The Battle of Newtown!
AUGUST  27  &  28, 2011

Join us at Newtown Battlefield State Park for this exciting commemoration and recreation
of the Battle of Newtown, as we honor and pay homage to the men on both sides who fought over the land
that would soon become a part of the new country called the United States of America.

The quiet mountaintop will again erupt with activity as the British Crown forces and their Native allies
clash with the soldiers of the Continental Army.

Enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells of military life in the time of our American Revolution.

Wander through Sutler Row and visit our 18th century merchants.
They are open for business for everyone, and 21st century money is most gratefully accepted.
You just may find something you can't live without!

Try a cup of our delicious, kettle-cooked 'Tater Soup!

Enjoy demonstrations of 18th century life.  Visit and talk with our tinker-peddler, horn maker, and leather worker.

Visit our Northeastern Woodland Indian village and talk with the Indians and the British who are
encamped there.  Walk through the American camp and talk to the soldiers
and the campfollowers as they cook meals over a fire.

Watch a military court martial and a captive exchange.

Kids can learn to drill as the soldiers do, but with wooden muskets!

The skirmish will take place around you.  Step lively!  You may be the first to spot the enemy!

Catch the yellow bus at the monument at 10:00 AM to be taken to the starting place.
The walk begins at 10:15 and will last about 45 minutes.
The terrain is a rough, forested path and may not be appropriate for everyone.
Unfortunately, it is not handicapped accessible, and wheelchairs and strollers are prohibited.
The gunfire at close range may frighten young children.  Please use your discretion.
