RE-ENACTORS'  INFORMATION

The 230th Anniversary of the Battle of Newtown
August 28, 29 & 30, 2009

Registration for participants is now closed.

NOTE:  This is a 3-day event for participants.

Friday is a "Play Day" for participants, and will not be open to the public.
A morning skirmish in the woods can be done on Friday morning, if re-enactors wish.
On Friday afternoon, a tactical is being planned off the hill on the actual site
of the August 13, 1779
New Chemung Ambush.  The site is on private property and has never
been offered for our use before.  This is a one-time opportunity you won't want to miss!
Buses will transport participants to and from the site.

Back by popular demand --  Our public participation Woods Walk.
Last year, we did this for the first time on Saturday morning, and it was extremely well received
by both the public and the re-enactors.  As a result, we will do two on Saturday --
one in the morning, and another in the afternoon.

On Sunday, there will be one regular battle on the battlefield in the afternoon.

Arrival, Registration and Setup --
Participants, sutlers, and demonstrators may arrive on Thursday to setup.
Registration will be open beginning Thursday morning and will remain open late in the evening
and again on Friday.
If you cannot arrive on Thursday, Friday arrival and setup is fine,
since there will be no public on the hilltop.
Please stop at the Park Office to register, at the stop sign on top of the hill, upon your arrival.

Each participant will be required to fill out and sign a NYS Parks Volunteer Form
and a Wavier of Liability.  Forms for children under 18 must be signed by a parent or guardian.
Parking passes will be issued and must be filled out and placed on your dashboard.

Camp locations are still being worked out, so you will be told upon your arrival where you should go.

All vehicles must be removed from the camps and sutler areas as soon as unloading is complete.
Vehicles must be parked in designated re-enactor parking.

Available Amenities --
Water, firewood, and port-a-johns will be located near the camps.
Restrooms and showers are on top of the hill near the Park office.
Ice will be available to purchase at set times.

Food --

A modern food vendor, located near the Park office, will be open for lunch business
during public hours on Saturday and Sunday.
Your hosts will provide Saturday night supper and Sunday Continental breakfast, both free of charge.

Tavern Night!
After dinner is over on Saturday evening, the lodge will be open for an 18th-Century Tavern Night.
Rum punch will be provided, along with some delectable refreshments.
Games, Music, Merriment!  Come and join the fun!
Please bring your lanterns, as we turn out the lights and it is a big, dark lodge!  We need help with the ambience lighting.

Event Rules and Regulations

Please do not transport firewood from any location over 50 miles away!
This is a New York State regulation, due to wood pests.
