GS Inima Brazil has officially begun operations at Barrinha Saneamiento in the municipality of Barrinha, located in São Paulo's Ribeirão Preto region. The new project marks a significant step toward modernizing the local water infrastructure, addressing the critical need for renovation to support urban growth and ensure long-term water security.
On March 2, the Service Order (OS) was signed, officially launching the project. Barrinha, often referred to as the "Princess of the Mogi" due to its proximity to the Mogi Guaçu River, will benefit from a comprehensive transformation plan that is estimated to require an investment of 44 million reais (approximately 7.6 million euros) during the first five-year phase. This initiative is designed to benefit around 32,000 residents.
The modernization efforts will involve the construction of new collection networks, outfalls, and a Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) that will treat 100% of the city's sewage. Additionally, 18 wells will be modernized and maintained to ensure consistent water quality, and water pumping stations will be optimized to reduce supply interruptions. The project also aims to achieve the universalization of sanitation services by 2030.
In addition to the infrastructure improvements, the project is expected to generate more than 30 direct jobs, contributing to the local economy.
Paulo Roberto de Oliveira, CEO of GS Inima Brazil, said: “Barrinha is moving toward the future and the universalization of sanitation. With this partnership, we reaffirm our commitment to ensuring quality water and proper wastewater treatment, promoting sustainable development and strengthening water security for the entire population.”
